“Using superimpositions and an array of special effects, Méliès creates this charming trick film in which a gentleman (played by himself) nets fish from his hat and puts them in an aquarium. The aquarium increases in size and a mermaid magically appears. The aquarium is transformed into a grotto and the gentleman is changed into Neptune.
