Dredd 3D (Pete Travis, 2012)
In what is essentially The Raid meets Robocop (or a third helping of cheering for police brutality!), Karl Urban and director Pete Travis finally give the character of Judge Dredd the cinematic adaptation he deserves - or, at the very least, the remake nobody knew they wanted. Pure, unrelentingly bloody spectacle, Dredd knows to be brutal, visually striking (slow-mo!) and completely straightforward, becoming all the more effective for it. Mean and lean, meat-headed and bombastic, Dredd 3D is a rare occurence: it wastes no time and goes straight for the kill — loud entertainment done 100% right. See it!
